FDA Fast Track for Chromocell/Astellas Drug Candidate

FDA has granted Chromocell and Astellas Pharma a fast track designation for drug candidate CC8464/ASP1807 for managing neuropathic pain associated with idiopathic small fiber neuropathy. In 2015, the companies entered into a license and collaboration agreement for developing the product. Chromocell submitted an IND for CC8464/ASP1807 in July, and recently dosed the first subject in a Phase 1 clinical trial to evaluate the safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics of the oral formulation. The potent, highly selective, peripherally-restricted inhibitor of Nav1.7 and has been shown to be effective in multiple animal models of human neuropathic and inflammatory pain, according to the company.
