# FDA Grants Cellceutix Orphan Designation

> FDA has granted Cellceutix Corp. an orphan drug designation for kevetrin for treating pancreatic cancer. The designation was based on data from a Phase 1 trial involving one patient who was administered the therapy once weekly for three weeks with an off-week between cycles. The patient, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, received four full cycles of Kevetrin. “Tumor measurements showed stable disease for more than three months,” the company says. *In vitro* and *in vivo* data were also used to gain the designation.
