FDA Guide on Device UDI Compliance Dates

Federal Register notice: FDA has made available a guidance entitled “Unique Device Identification: Policy Regarding Compliance Dates for Class I and Unclassified Devices and Certain Devices Requiring Direct Marking.” The document describes FDA’s intention to defer enforcement of unique device identification requirements for Class I and unclassified devices, other than implantable, life-sustaining, or life-supporting devices. The agency does not intend to enforce standard date formatting, labeling, and Global Unique Device Identification Database data submission requirements for these devices before 9/24/2020.
