FDA Implementing Cloud-based Data Management: Simpson

FDA chief information officer Todd Simpson says the agency is implementing a cloud-based data management system to eliminate the need for duplicate storage at continuity of operations sites and minimize data center storage loads. Writing in an online post for CIO Review, Simpson says FDA conducted exhaustive market research and internal technical evaluations to select the data management product that best supports its mission as a federal agency.

“We are designing an enterprise content collaboration platform that allows users to securely share files and collaborate with both internal and external users,” Simpson writes. “The platform will allow FDA to implement the necessary security controls for data loss prevention and regulatory compliance. Also, the enterprise platform has been carefully designed to be flexible for future custom integrations with other cloud providers and on-premise platforms.”
