# FDA Inks Agreement with SomaLogic for Proteomics Study

FDA has reached a five-year agreement with SomaLogic to evaluate the utility of large-scale analysis of proteins (proteomics) for identifying biomarkers that may be useful in demonstrating biosimilarity of a proposed biosimilar to a reference biologic. The company [says](https://finance.yahoo.com/news/somalogic-announces-collaboration-fda-advance-140000355.html?ref=fdaweb.com) it will collaborate with FDA to identify circulating pharmacodynamic biomarkers and analytical approaches that could be used to demonstrate the biosimilarity of a candidate biosimilar drug to a reference FDA-approved biologic drug.

“If successful,” SomaLogic says, “this proteomic strategy could reduce the need for costly and lengthy comparative clinical studies. This, in turn, should streamline the development of biosimilars and then accelerate the delivery of safe, effective, and affordable biosimilar treatments to patients.”
