FDA Meeting on Data Strategy Modernization

FDA will hold a 3/27 public meeting to discuss possible agency-level approaches to modernizing FDA’s data strategy, including approaches to data quality, data stewardship, data exchange, and data analytics. A meeting notice says the agency also is soliciting public comments on the topic.

A 9/2019 FDA technology modernization action plan described important near-term actions the agency is taking to modernize the use of computer hardware, software, and analytics. The notice says the plan “will provide a foundation for developing a more fluid, agile, and efficient FDA that is responsive to novel technologies and rapidly increasing workloads.”

Topics to be considered at the meeting are standards and policy; data security, privacy, and management; and data strategies and data sharing. Each topic has sub-topics listed in the meeting notice.
