# FDA Office of Commissioner Reorganizing

Just as he leaves the agency, FDA commissioner **Scott Gottlieb** has received the go-ahead for his proposed reorganization of the Office of the Commissioner and several changes to other agency elements. The Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society (RAPS) [says](https://www.raps.org/news-and-articles/news-articles/2019/3/reorganization-of-fdas-office-of-the-commissioner?ref=fdaweb.com) Gottlieb told staff the reorganization plan “elevates the role of the Centers in support of FDA’s science-driven culture, consolidates work in the Office of Operations to more effectively support the agency’s mission and strengthens our staffing and recruiting functions.”

Two major changes, RAPS says, are creation of the CDRH Office of Product Evaluation and Quality and creation of an Office of Therapeutic Biologics and Biosimilars within the Office of New Drugs. Implementation of the reorganization across the Centers will be rolled out in phases, according to Gottlieb.

Changes also will be made to the Office of New Drugs’ Office of Hematology and Oncology Products, CDER’s Office of Compliance, and the Office of Executive Programs.
