FDA OKs Expanded Farxiga Indication

FDA has approved an expanded indication for AstraZeneca’s Farxiga (dapagliflozin) to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization for heart failure, and urgent heart failure visits in adults with heart failure. A company statement says the approval was based on positive results from the Phase 3 DELIVER trial. Farxiga was previously approved for adults with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. The company says the latest approval means patients with heart failure can benefit from Farxiga regardless of left ventricular ejection fraction status.
