FDA OKs Genentech’s Vabysmo Syringe

FDA has approved Genentech’s Vabysmo (faricimab-svoa) prefilled syringe to treat wet age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, and macular edema following retinal vein occlusion. A company statement says the prefilled 6.0 mg single-dose syringe delivers the same medicine as the 6.0 mg vial that will remain available.

Vabysmo is described as the first bispecific antibody approved for the eye. Genentech says it targets and inhibits two signaling pathways linked to some vision-threatening retinal conditions by neutralizing angiopoietin-2 and vascular endothelial growth factor.
