FDA Opens GDUFA Science and Research Web Page

FDA says it has opened a new Web page — FY 2018 GDUFA Science and Research Outcomes — to provide greater transparency into “the important work the agency engages in to advance the science of generic drugs and provide generic drug developers, applicants, and FDA reviewers essential tools and information to help expedite the availability of high-quality, lower-cost safe and effective generic drugs.” The page includes a list of research outcomes from FY 2018 in one easily accessible place.

FDA says the GDUFA research supports development of drug products, generation of evidence needed to support efficient review and timely approval of ANDAs, and evaluation of drug equivalence. Types of research outcomes reported for each of the three categories are listed in the document with the FY 2018 statistics for each.
