FDA Places 2 Indian, 2 Chinese Firms on Import Alert

FDA has placed two Chinese and two Indian companies on import alert that bans their products from being shipped into the U.S. because they failed to submit self-identifying information or pay facility fees required under the Generic Drug User Fee Act. This is the first time the agency has exercised its authority to place import alerts on foreign facilities for failing to pay the fees. Affected companies are Jiangsu ZW Pharmaceuticals, Wuxi Kaili Pharmaceutical Co., Fleming Laboratories and Sharon Bio-Medicine Ltd. Interestingly, each of the firms have also received recent Warning Letters over GMP issues (Jiangsu Warning Letter, Wuxi Kaili Warning Letter, Fleming Labs Warning Letter, and Sharon Bio-Med Warning Letter.
