FDA Postpones Human Cell Guidance Hearing

FDA says that due to considerable interest in a scheduled 4/13 public hearing on a draft guidance relating to regulation of human cells, tissues, or cellular- or tissue-based products, it is extending the comment period for the draft guidance documents and postponing the hearing until later this year. The notice says that FDA also will schedule a scientific workshop to gather information from manufacturers of cell-based products, clinical researchers, and other stakeholders about the generation of scientific evidence to facilitate the development of safe and effective cell-based therapeutics.

Information on the rescheduled hearing date, location, and registration information will be released on the agency Web site and published in the Federal Register.
