# FDA Promotes CBER Deputy Marks to Center Director

> FDA has promoted CBER deputy director **Peter Marks** to director of the office effective 1/1\. Marks replaces **Karen Midthun**, who retired after 22 years of FDA service in December.

> Marks received his graduate degree in cell and molecular biology and his medical degree at New York University. He completed an internal medicine residency and hematology/medical oncology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he subsequently joined the attending staff as a clinician-scientist and eventually served as clinical director of hematology. He joined FDA in 2012 as CBER deputy director.
