FDA Promotes CBER Deputy Marks to Center Director

FDA has promoted CBER deputy director Peter Marks to director of the office effective 1/1. Marks replaces Karen Midthun, who retired after 22 years of FDA service in December.

Marks received his graduate degree in cell and molecular biology and his medical degree at New York University. He completed an internal medicine residency and hematology/medical oncology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, where he subsequently joined the attending staff as a clinician-scientist and eventually served as clinical director of hematology. He joined FDA in 2012 as CBER deputy director.
