FDA Proposes 2 Drug Communication Studies
FDA is seeking comments on two proposed studies involving direct-to-consumer and professional drug communications. In the first study, the CDER Office of Prescription Drug Promotion (OPDP) will examine the presence, wording, and prominence of a disclosure communicating information related to a drug’s accelerated approval in direct-to-consumer promotional materials. A Federal Register notice describes how the research will be conducted.
In the second study, the OPDP will examine important public health issues in professionally directed prescription drug print promotion. The research will look at how physician perception of professional prescription drug communications is influenced by variations in information context, methodologic rigor of the underlying clinical study, and time pressure.
