FDA Proposes to Withdraw Carbadox Approval

Federal Register notice: FDA is proposing to withdraw approval of Phibro Animal Health’s NADAs for carbadox in medicated swine feed. This action is based on CVM’s determination that there is no approved regulatory method to detect carcinogenic residues in the edible tissues of treated swine. Carbadox is indicated for controlling dysentery and bacterial enteritis, and for growth promotion. The notice also announces an opportunity for Phibro to request a hearing on the proposal.
