FDA Says Harrington House Selling Unapproved Drugs

FDA says a Web site operated by Harrington House, Danville, VA, takes orders for seven Abbey St. Clare products that are promoted through claims that establish them as drugs. A 9/2 Warning Letter says that the products are not generally recognized as safe and effective for their intended uses and thus are considered to be unapproved new drugs under the law.

The company was told to take prompt actions to correct all violations associated with its products, including those not named in the Warning Letter, and to respond with a list of specific steps taken to correct the violations, including an explanation of each step being taken to identify violations and make corrections to ensure that similar violations will not recur, along with a timetable for completion.
