# FDA Seeking New Patient Engagement Collaborative Members

FDA has released a call for applications for the next cohort of the Patient Engagement Collaborative the agency sponsors in collaboration with the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative (CTTI). An agency [notice](https://www.fda.gov/news-events/fda-voices/fda-seeks-patient-insight-call-applications-patient-engagement-collaborative?utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fsource=govdelivery) (with link to the application) says the collaborative, established in 2018, is a group of patient organizations and individual representatives who discuss ways to enhance patient engagement. It is run by the FDA Patient Affairs Staff, according to Office of Clinical Policy and Programs Patient Affairs director **Andrea Furia-Helms**.

Applications will be received for 30 days. Members are expected to serve two to three years and will be selected by a committee of patient advocates, CTTI staff, FDA, and patient representatives.

Representatives from the patient community include patients who have personal disease experience, caregivers who have personal experience supporting someone with a health condition, and representatives from patient groups who have direct or indirect disease experience.

Collaborative members discuss topics such as creating new ways to collaborate with patient communities, making patient engagement more systematic, improving transparency through education and outreach, and enhancing communication between FDA and patient communities, the notice says.
