FDA Spent PDUFA Fees Appropriately: OIG

The HHS Inspector General (OIG) says that generally FDA has spent prescription drug user fee collections appropriately. An OIG audit report says it looked at $796,065,980 in prescription drug user fees reported for 10/1/14 through 9/30/15. The report says that while FDA generally spent the collections appropriately to meet its goals for the timely review of human drug applications, there were documentation issues involving three travel expenses. “The lack of supporting documentation appeared to be an oversight by FDA staff and not a systemic issue,” the report says. “Accordingly, this report contains no recommendations.”
