FDA Taps Jim Traficant as Chief of Staff

FDA has appointed former business consultant Jim Traficant as chief of staff where he will oversee the day-to-day management and lead the agency’s major initiatives. In this role, “Mr. Traficant provides strategic direction to senior leadership to advance FDA’s priorities and works closely with the leadership of FDA product Centers and field operations to support the successful implementation of agency policies,” says an agency-posted biography.

Prior to accepting this FDA role, Traficant served as a partner at Pinkston, providing operational, programmatic, and strategic guidance to companies. From 2012 to 2020, he served as managing director at Accenture Federal Services. From 2001 to 2012, he worked at L3Harris as president, and at Harris Healthcare Solutions, which he founded.

Traficant has an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Geneva College and an MBA degree from George Washington University.
