# FDA Taps Outside Expert for CDER Regulatory Shop

FDA has chosen Pew Charitable Trusts drug regulatory policy expert **Elizabeth Jungman** as Office of Regulatory Policy director, effective in July. At Pew since 2014, Jungman oversees initiatives related to antibiotic innovation, prescription drug safety, over-the-counter medicines, and other consumer health care products.

Before joining Pew, she was a senior health policy adviser with the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, where she had a critical role in drafting and negotiating the FDA Safety and Innovation Act of 2012 and other health- and drug-related legislation, according to an email from the agency. Prior to Capitol Hill, Jungman was an associate at Covington & Burling from 2005-2011\. For several years, she has served on FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee.

Jungman has a law degree from Georgetown University, a master’s in public health from Johns Hopkins, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from Harvard.
