# FDA to Hold Webinar on Proposed Expedited IND Pilot Program

FDA is announcing an 8/6 [educational Webinar](https://www.fda.gov/news-events/fda-meetings-conferences-and-workshops/expedited-ind-pilot-program-educational-webinar-stakeholders-08062026?ref=fdaweb.com) to provide stakeholders with additional information about its proposed Expedited Investigational New Drug (IND) Pilot Program, an initiative designed to shorten the time between drug discovery and the start of first-in-human clinical trials.

The one-hour webinar (9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. EDT) is intended to explain the agency's proposal to establish a network of Qualified Research Institutions (QRIs) that would work with drug sponsors to develop and review first-in-human clinical trial protocols before IND submissions are sent to FDA. The proposed network could include academic medical centers, healthcare systems, contract research organizations, regulatory consultants, and other third-party research or review organizations.

According to FDA, the Webinar will clarify the goals of the proposed pilot program and provide additional context for a recently issued Request for Information (RFI). Agency officials also plan to answer stakeholder questions that could help inform public comments on the proposal.

The Expedited IND Pilot Program is part of FDA's broader effort to accelerate early-stage drug development while maintaining appropriate regulatory oversight. By involving qualified external institutions earlier in protocol development and review, the agency hopes to streamline preparation of IND applications and reduce the time required to initiate first-in-human studies.
