FDA to Study Ad Disclosures
FDA says it wants to do research to determine how useful disclosures regarding prescription drug information are when presented prominently and adjacent to claims in print ads. An 8/9 Federal Register notice says the specific question to be examined is whether healthcare professionals and consumers are able to use disclosures to effectively frame information in efficacy claims in prescription drug promotion. The presentations to be researched will cover scope of treatment, ease of use, and statistical significance, the notice says.
The notice also includes comments received by FDA on a 6/14/17 notice seeking public comment on this proposed collection of information, with the agency’s response to the comments.
