FDA Updates Covid Test Info with Omicron

FDA has updated its SARS-CoV-2 Viral Mutations: Impact on Covid-19 Tests Web page with information on the omicron variant. The agency says the update added new information about:

FDA recommendations for clinical laboratory staff and healthcare providers;
the Tide Laboratories DTPM Covid-19 RT-PCR test that is expected to fail to detect the omicron variant because it is a single target test; and
updates to the list of tests with S-gene drop out, which should not be affected by omicron since they are designed to detect multiple genetic targets.
