# FDA User Fee Reauthorization Passes House on Voice Vote

The House of Representatives 7/12 passed a [bill](http://docs.house.gov/billsthisweek/20170710/HR2430-1.pdf?ref=fdaweb.com) (voice vote) to reauthorize medical product user fee programs for another five years beginning 10/1\. Congress had made passage a priority in order to prevent layoff notices being issued to 5,000 agency employees, which reportedly could happen later this month.

  
The Senate has not scheduled a floor vote, but leadership reportedly wants this scheduled before the chamber’s August recess. However, Sen. **Ron Johnson** (R-WA) has pledged to delay the bill unless it includes “right-to-try” language for patients to access investigational drugs.
