FDA Warning on Dr. Berne’s Eye Drops

FDA has issued a warning against using Dr. Berne’s MSM Drops 5% Solution and LightEyez MSM Eye Drops – Eye Repair due to bacterial or fungal contamination. “Using contaminated eye drops could result in minor to serious vision-threatening infection which could possibly progress to a life-threatening infection,” the warning says.

The warning followed FDA-conducted sampling and testing that showed the products were contaminated with microbes and were not sterile,” it says. Dr. Berne agreed on 8/21 to recall the products, it adds.

The agency also says that the eye drops contain methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) as an active ingredient, which is an unapproved drug in the U.S.
