# FDA Warns Carahealth on Unapproved Virus Therapy

FDA 3/26 sent a [Warning Letter](https://www.fda.gov/inspections-compliance-enforcement-and-criminal-investigations/warning-letters/carahealth-605826-03262020?ref=fdaweb.com) to Carahealth (Galway, Ireland) objecting to herbal products being offered online for treating Covid-19 patients. For example, one claim the company was making said: “Coronavirus (COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2) pandemic has no medical treatment. Natural antiviral herbs boost immunity & decrease virus virulence to achieve herd immunity.” FDA told the company to stop marketing the unapproved products for Covid-19 use.

FDA says it is advising consumers not to purchase or use certain products that have not been approved, cleared, or authorized by FDA and that are being misleadingly represented as safe and effective for treating the virus. “Your firm will be added to a published list on FDA’s Web site of firms and Web sites that have received Warning Letters from FDA concerning the sale or distribution of COVID-19 related products in violation of the FD&C Act,” the letter says.
