# FibroGen Quashes Pulmonary Fibrosis Trial

FibroGen is discontinuing its ZEPHYRUS-2 Phase 3 trial of pamrevlumab in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis after topline data from the earlier ZEPHYRIS-1 Phase 3 trial did not meet the primary or secondary endpoints. The primary endpoint was a change from baseline in forced vital capacity at week 48, and the secondary endpoint was the time to disease progression, according to FibroGen. The company says it plans to discuss the results of the ZEPHYRUS-1 study at an upcoming medical meeting.

Pamrevlumab is described as a potential first-in-class antibody believed to inhibit the activity of connective tissue growth factor, a common factor in fibrotic and proliferative disorders characterized by persistent and excessive scarring that can lead to organ dysfunction and failure. According to the company, pamrevlumab is currently being evaluated in Phase 3 studies for treating locally advanced unresectable pancreatic cancer, and ambulatory Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and in a Phase 2/3 study for treating metastatic pancreatic cancer.
