Fibromyalgia Treatment Group Selling Unapproved New Drugs: FDA

FDA says Web sites and social media pages maintained by the Fibromyalgia Treatment Group (FTG), Eagle, ID, promote the sale of several products that are unapproved new drugs. A just-released 8/26 Warning Letter gives claims made for the products and says they are not generally recognized as safe and effective for their intended uses and thus are new drugs that require prior approval from FDA before being introduced in the marketplace. The products also are misbranded, the letter says.

FTG was told to respond with a list of specific steps it has taken to address the violations and prevent their recurrence, with copies of related documentation and a timetable for completing the work.
