Fight Bone Graft Infections: Michigan Lawmakers

Four members of Congress from Michigan are calling on FDA to do more to stop the threat of bone graft infections across the U.S. In an 8/29 letter to FDA commissioner Robert Califf, Reps. John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Sens. Gary Peters and Debbie Stabenow (both D-MI) cite the case of a Michigan woman who died from complications from tuberculosis that was contracted through a bone graft from an infected donor that was supplied by Maryland-based Azylo Biologics.

They want FDA to “issue guidance or regulations based on sound science to protect patients and increase accountability for human tissue transplant products.”
