Final Guide on Compounding Ibuprofen Suspensions

Federal Register notice: FDA is making available a final guidance entitled “Compounding Certain Ibuprofen Oral Suspension Products Under Section 503B of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.” The document describes the agency’s regulatory and enforcement priorities for outsourcing facilities to compound certain ibuprofen oral suspension products for administration in hospitals and health systems. FDA says the guidance is being implemented immediately to improve access to ibuprofen oral suspension products in hospitals and health systems during the current surge in respiratory infections, and it remains subject to comment under FDA good guidance practices.
