# Finalize Race, Ethnicity Data Guidance: DFA

Doctors for America (DFA) says FDA should finalize its draft guidance on the collection of race and ethnicity data in clinical trials and clinical studies for regulated products with strong recommendations for industry compliance and providing ongoing support and resources to facilitate the adoption of inclusive practices in clinical research. A DFA comment [letter](https://downloads.regulations.gov/FDA-2016-D-3561-0059/attachment%5F1.pdf?ref=fdaweb.com) says that incorporating race, ethnicity, and geographic location data in clinical trials not only enhances the generalization of study findings but also contributes to the generation of robust real-world evidence. The information is critical for understanding how medical interventions perform in diverse patient populations and identifying potential disparities in treatment outcomes, it says.

“Together,” DFA says in its letter, “we can advance the science of medicine and improve healthcare outcomes for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, or geographic location.”

DFA also submits some specific line-by-line comments.
