Former FDA Chief Information Officer Joins Datavant

Clinical trial data integrator Datavant has appointed former FDA chief information officer Eric Perakslis as its chief scientific officer. Based in San Francisco, Datavant’s products are designed to improve the design and interpretation of clinical trials through data integration and artificial intelligence, “increasing the odds of success of clinical trials and helping more drugs reach patients,” the company says.

Perakslis joined FDA in 2011 after heading informatics R&D at Johnson & Johnson. He left the agency in 2013. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of R&D informatics at Takeda Pharmaceuticals International in Cambridge, MA.
