Former FDA Chief of Staff on Biden Covid Team

Former FDA chief of staff Lauren Silvis has been added to President Joe Biden’s Covid-19 response team. Silvis was agency chief of staff under former commissioner Scott Gottlieb. Before serving as chief of staff from 5/2017 to 6/2019, she was CDRH deputy director for policy. Silvis currently is senior vice president for external affairs at Tempus, a genomics-based diagnostic company.

Becker’s Hospital Review reports that Gottlieb said Silvis promoted key initiatives to improve medical technology safety and modernize regulation of over-the-counter drugs, among other efforts, and will continue to contribute to U.S. public health.
