Hyman, Phelps & McNamara [has hired](https://www.thefdalawblog.com/2023/10/senior-fda-official-dr-julie-beitz-joins-hyman-phelps-mcnamara-p-c-as-principal-drug-regulatory-expert/?ref=fdaweb.com) former CDER Office of Immunology and Inflammation director **Julie Beitz** as a principal drug regulatory expert. Beitz, an oncologist/hematologist, retired 7/29 from the agency after nearly 30 years of service. In her new role, Beitz joins attorneys and other regulatory experts to assist companies on various drug/biologic product legal, regulatory, and policy issues. 

Prior to 2020, Beitz served as CDER Office of Drug Evaluation III for 14 years where she oversaw the Division of Gastroenterology and Inborn Errors of Metabolism, the Division of Dermatology and Dental Products, and the Division of Bone, Reproductive and Urology Products.

Beitz has a medical degree from a Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed her residency and a fellowship in medical oncology/hematology at Brown University’s Roger Williams Medical Center.
