# GA Man, Firm Plead Guilty in Supplement Case

**James Chadwick Brooks** (Norcross, GA) and his company CCB Nutrition have pleaded guilty to introducing an unapproved new drug into interstate commerce with the intent to defraud and mislead FDA. The [government contends](https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/former-supplement-company-owner-pleads-guilty-unlawful-distribution-anabolic-steroids-and?ref=fdaweb.com) that from 2016 to 2019, Brooks marketed supplements containing anabolic steroids such as androsterone, trestolone, epiandrosterone and methylstenbolone to the bodybuilding and fitness community.

Additionally, the government alleged that the supplements distributed by Brooks included a product labeled as containing Arimistane, an aromatase inhibitor typically used with steroids to decrease estrogen production. Previously, FDA warned that aromatase inhibitors have been linked to significant health risks such as a decreased rate of bone maturation and growth, decreased sperm production, infertility, aggressive behavior, adrenal insufficiency, kidney failure and liver dysfunction.

Brooks is scheduled to be sentenced on 10/18 and faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison.
