# Garmendia Permanently Debarred Over Trial Fraud

*Federal Register* notice: FDA is denying a request for a hearing submitted by **Bernardo Garmendia**, and is issuing an order permanently debarring him from providing services in any capacity to a person that has an approved or pending drug product application. The actions are based on Garmendia’s 6/2023 guilty plea to wire fraud charges as co-owner of AMB Research when it entered into a clinical trial agreement to lead a pharmaceutical company’s clinical trial designed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of an investigational drug intended to treat *Clostridium difficile*\-associated diarrhea (CDAD clinical trial). Garmendia and his co-conspirators fabricated and falsified documents, study data, and other items related to the CDAD clinical trial.
