GBT Sees Positive Results in Phase 3 Voxelotor Trial

Global Blood Therapeutics say it is in discussions with FDA about accelerated approval for its voxelotor to treat sickle cell anemia based on results from Part A of its Phase 3 HOPE (Hemoglobin Oxygen Affinity Modulation to Inhibit HbS PolymErization) study that showed a statistically significant increase in the proportion of patients with greater than 1g/dL increase in hemoglobin versus baseline. Company officials say they believe the results meet the standard for accelerated approval.
