# Generic Drug Approvals Set New Record

The 781 generic drugs approved by CDER’s Office of Generic Drugs in FY 2018 set a new record, up from the 763 approved in FY 2017, according to an FDA [activities report](https://www.fda.gov/Drugs/DevelopmentApprovalProcess/HowDrugsareDevelopedandApproved/ApprovalApplications/AbbreviatedNewDrugApplicationANDAGenerics/ucm375079.htm?ref=fdaweb.com). The report also shows there were 1,044 ANDA applications in FY 2018, down from 1,306 in FY 2017.
