# Gilead Recalls 2 Veklury Lots

Gilead Sciences has recalled two lots of Veklury (remdesivir 100 mg for injection) after confirming a complaint about the presence of glass particulates. Administrating an injectable product that contains glass particulates may result in blocked blood vessels in the heart, lungs or brain which can cause stroke and even lead to death, according to a [recall notice](https://www.fda.gov/safety/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts/gilead-issues-voluntary-nationwide-recall-two-lots-vekluryr-remdesivir-due-presence-glass?ref=fdaweb.com). To date, the company has not received any related adverse event reports. Veklury is indicated for treating hospitalized Covid-19 patients.
