# Global Unique Device ID Database Guidance

FDA has published an updated guidance, *Global Unique Device Identification Database (GUDID)*, reflecting upcoming changes in the Global Medical Device Nomenclature field in GUDID and other minor clarifications. The [document](https://www.fda.gov/regulatory-information/search-fda-guidance-documents/global-unique-device-identification-database-gudid?ref=fdaweb.com) says database enhancements to improve user experience, build in better validation rules, and other changes may continue as the agency receives feedback. “We intend to periodically update this document to reflect system changes and enhancements,” it says.
