# Google Watch Cleared for ‘Pulse Loss’ Detection

FDA has cleared a Google 510(k) for its [Loss of Pulse Detection](https://support.google.com/fitbit/answer/15250403?hl=en&ref=fdaweb.com) feature and its use on the [Pixel Watch 3](https://store.google.com/config/pixel%5Fwatch%5F3?hl=en-US&ref=fdaweb.com). The feature can detect when someone wearing the watch has experienced a loss of pulse (the heart stops beating due to primary cardiac arrest, respiratory or circulatory failure, overdose or poisoning), according to a Google [blog post](https://blog.google/feed/pixel-watch-3-loss-of-pulse-detection-fda/?ref=fdaweb.com). When this occurs, the watch automatically prompts a call to emergency services for potentially life-saving care if the wearer is unresponsive, it says.
