Former FDA commissioner **Scott Gottlieb** has returned to the venture capital firm he was at just before being appointed to the agency’s top post in 2017 — [New Enterprise Associates (NEA). ](https://www.nea.com/?ref=fdaweb.com)Previously at NEA for 10 years as a venture partner, Gottlieb returns as a full-time investing partner on the firm’s healthcare investment team in the firm’s Chevy Chase, MD office. The firm says that Gottlieb will be an “active investor across the full spectrum of our healthcare activities, with a particular emphasis on biopharma and healthcare services. Scott is an invaluable resource for our entrepreneurs and our investing team as we work together to advance new products and services to better serve patients.” Currently, Gottlieb is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC.
