# Grassley, Durbin Want Ad Drug Prices

Reacting to a federal judge’s [ruling](https://www.fdaweb.com/court-invalidates-hhs-rule-on-dtc-pricing-disclosures/) that HHS lacks statutory authority to require publication of drug list prices in certain direct-to-consumer drug ads, Senate Finance Committee chairman **Chuck Grassley** (R-IA) says he and Sen. **Dick Durbin** (D-IL) will continue to fight to have the prices included in ads.

“The direct-to-consumer price disclosure measure in a commonsense approach that will help reduce drug costs,” Grassley said in a [statement](https://www.finance.senate.gov/chairmans-news/grassley-durbin-vow-to-keep-pushing-for-list-prices-on-dtc-drug-advertisements?ref=fdaweb.com). “There is a severe lack of transparency in the healthcare system. The DTC measure would shine a light on the outrageous cost of medications and give healthcare consumers information they need to make the best decision for their circumstance. Sen. Durbin and I plan on renewing our push to provide a legislative solution to this problem by moving our bipartisan bill introduced earlier this year that would require this type of disclosure by federal law.”
