GSK Liver Disease Anti-Itch Drug Meets Endpoint

GSK is announcing that its Phase 3 GLISTEN trial evaluating linerixibat, an investigational targeted inhibitor of the ileal bile acid transporter (IBAT), in adults with cholestatic pruritus (relentless itch) associated with primary biliary cholangitis met its primary endpoint. “GLISTEN met its primary endpoint, with linerixibat resulting in an improvement in itch, as demonstrated by a statistically significant reduction from baseline in monthly itch score over 24 weeks versus placebo,” the company says, adding that preliminary safety results are consistent with those seen in prior studies.

GSK says full results of the trial will be presented at a future scientific meeting. Linerixibat has previously been granted an orphan drug designation by FDA.
