Guard Medical Gets Clearance for NPseal

FDA has cleared a Guard Medical 510(k) for additional large sizes of surgical incision closures (wounds up to 25cm) for treatment with its next-generation negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) dressing, NPseal. The surgical dressing uses an integrated pump that establishes and maintains negative pressure with just a few pinches, according to the company. “Following the successful clinical results of NPseal with hip replacement patients, the additional large sizes will expand the use of NPseal to all more patients including knee replacement patients,” according to the company, adding that NPWT has been shown to reduce surgical site complications in a large number of peer-reviewed articles.
