Guidance on Primate Supply for Drug Nonclinical Use

Federal Register notice: FDA is making available a final guidance entitled “Nonclinical Considerations for Mitigating Nonhuman Primate Supply Constraints Arising from the Covid-19 Pandemic.” The agency says that during the pandemic there has been a significant reduction in the supply of nonhuman primates available for conducting toxicology studies for new pharmaceuticals. As a result, the shortage has the potential to significantly delay the development of new medications. The guidance provides recommendations to help mitigate the primate supply issue by reducing the demand during the pandemic. To view the notice, click here.
