Guide BCG-Unresponsive Bladder Cancer Drugs

Federal Register notice: FDA is making available a draft guidance entitled “Bacillus Calmette-Guérin-Unresponsive Nonmuscle Invasive Bladder Cancer: Developing Drug and Biological Products for Treatment.’’ The purpose of this guidance is to assist sponsors in the development of drug and biological products for treating patients with bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG)-unresponsive nonmuscle invasive bladder cancer. The document clarifies the use of BCG substrains, considerations for trial design and conduct in the setting of a recent worldwide shortage of BCG, discusses the use of single arm vs. randomized trial designs, and clarifies assessing and reporting responses and assessing endpoints for trials.
