# Guide on Drug Wholesaler Return Product Distribution

FDA has made available a final guidance entitled “[Wholesale Distributor Verification Requirement for Saleable Returned Drug Product — Compliance Policy](http://s2027422842.t.en25.com/e/er?utm%5Fcampaign=SBIA%3A%20FDA%20issues%20guidance%20for%20industry%20on%20wholesale%20distributor%20verification&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fsource=Eloqua&s=2027422842&lid=9850&elqTrackId=FBD443E0D0533795D58E8F6ABA7326FC&elq=0eb3ff167604454d9c92d924dc3de0aa&elqaid=9590&elqat=1).” The guidance announces a one-year delay in enforcement of a Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) provision requiring wholesale distributors to verify a product identifier prior to further distributing returned drug products. “Given concerns expressed by stakeholders, and to minimize possible disruptions in the pharmaceutical distribution supply chain, FDA does not intend to take action against wholesale distributors who do not, prior to 11/27/2020, verify a product identifier prior to further distributing returned product as required under the DSCSA,” the agency says.
