Harvard, DARPA Screening FDA Covid Drug Effectiveness

A $16 million partnership between the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and Harvard University is aimed at narrowing down which medication, approved by FDA, is effective for treating Covid-19 patients. The UK’s International Business Times reports the collaboration is working “with the help of cutting-edge computational drug discovery pipelines and human organ chip technology.”

The article says the method allows researchers to test and analyze human response to Covid-19 infections and to verify if a specific drug is effective as a treatment. Researchers at Mount Sinai’s School of Medicine and the University of Maryland also are helping with parallel experiments to determine which work and those that do not, it says.
